Welcome to the 50/50 Class

Hello all writers and welcome to the Fall 2008 "50/50" Class.

Thanks for jumping in, and I'm glad that you found your way to the blog site.
As you know, the premise of the class is quite simple. I will set up an email list serv, and starting on Monday Sept 1st, you will get one writing assignment via email every day for 50 days. Hopefully you will each be able to write a page of text each day, so that you will have a good sized pile once the class is over.

For those of you who are looking for some feedback on your work, there are a few ways to set that up, including an optional Follow-up Meeting with me after the class is over. You could also set up opportunities on your own, including peer writing partnerships, on-line writing partnerships, other on-line workshops, local writing classes and working one-on-one with a writing coach. I will tell you more about these options as we go along.

This blog is meant to provide a forum in which you all can ask and answer questions, share ideas or strategies, and give and receive advice during our 50-day class. It is not a place where we will all post our daily creative work, but i will post ideas, questions and things to consider. I welcome any and all comments you might want to add as we go through the class.

There are only 3 rules for posting comments and responses on this blog:

1. Please keep all of your comments to 200 words or less in length.
2. Please don't post your daily writing on this blog, its only a place for comments, questions and discussion about your process of writing during the class.
3. As always, please maintain politeness and mutual respect in all of your comments. The work of being a writer takes bravery, skill, honesty, humor and compassion, so lets foster and support those things in one another, wherever possible.

If you are new to the world of blogs, no worries. Check out the documents i sent you via email including the FAQ sheet, for complete instructions on how to post comments. You may want to bookmark this blog site in your browser, so that you can find it again easily once class gets underway.

For those of you who haven't yet sent your payment, you can send a $50 check (made payable either to Hollowdeck Press or to Max Regan, either is fine), to me at 1006 Grandview Ave. Boulder, Co 80302. And if you have any other questions about the class, just send me an email anytime at maxregan@mac.com.

The class is still open, so if you have any friends or fellow writers who might be interested in 50 days of writing, please feel free to pass along my email. For more information on other Hollowdeck classes, coaching, editing and journeys, you can find us on-line at www.hollowdeckpress.com .

Thanks again for joining us!
all the best,
Max
